1. About Us

Barrel Bothy is a firewood supply business providing processed firewood for domestic use. All orders are fulfilled via delivery only.

2. Definitions

  • “We”, “Us”, “Our” refers to Barrel Bothy
  • “You”, “Customer” refers to the purchaser
  • “Goods” refers to firewood products supplied
  • “Order” refers to your confirmed purchase

3. Product Description and Measurement

  • All firewood volumes are sold as loose cubic metres, not stacked cubic metres.
  • Loose volumes will naturally contain air gaps and therefore differ from stacked volumes.
  • Firewood is delivered in a tipper trailer and tipped at the delivery location.

4. Moisture Content Definitions

  • Seasoned firewood: ≤ 20% moisture content
  • Partially seasoned firewood: May exceed 20% moisture content

Moisture levels may vary depending on storage conditions following delivery.

5. Product Quality and Processing

  • Firewood is cleaned once during processing.
  • We do not undertake secondary cleaning.
  • Customers should expect a small amount of residual bark, chippings, or wood debris, which can be used as kindling.

6. Pricing and VAT

  • All prices are inclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated.
  • Prices are subject to change but will not affect confirmed orders.

7. Payment Terms

  • Payment methods accepted:
    • Cash
    • Bank transfer (preferred method)
  • Full payment must be received prior to tipping/delivery of the load.
  • We reserve the right to withhold delivery if payment has not cleared.

8. Delivery

  • Delivery is arranged by Holly (Barrel Bothy).
  • Delivery is typically completed within 7 days of order confirmation, subject to demand and logistics.
  • Delivery times are estimates and not guaranteed.
  • Customers must ensure:
    • Suitable access for a tipper trailer
    • Safe and appropriate tipping location

We reserve the right to refuse delivery if access is unsafe or unsuitable.

9. Delivery-Only Policy

  • Barrel Bothy operates a delivery-only service.
  • Customer collection is not currently available.

10. Customer Responsibilities

By purchasing firewood from Barrel Bothy, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You will ensure your appliance is suitable for burning wood
  • You will arrange for your chimney/flue to be professionally swept at least annually
  • You will store firewood appropriately after delivery to maintain quality

11. Risk and Ownership

  • Ownership of goods transfers upon full payment.
  • Risk transfers to the customer once the load has been tipped at the agreed delivery location.

12. Cancellations and Refunds

  • Orders may be cancelled prior to dispatch.
  • Once delivery has occurred, refunds will only be considered in cases of:
    • Incorrect product supplied
    • Material quality issues outside expected tolerances

All refund requests must be submitted promptly.

13. Complaints Policy

We are committed to resolving issues fairly and promptly.

If you have a complaint:

  1. Contact us as soon as possible with full details
  2. Include photos where relevant
  3. We will:
    • Acknowledge within 2 working days
    • Investigate and respond within 5 working days

Resolutions may include replacement, partial refund, or other appropriate remedy.

14. Disclaimer

  • Firewood is a natural product and may vary in:
    • Size
    • Moisture content
    • Appearance
  • We do not guarantee:
    • Exact log dimensions
    • Uniform moisture content across all logs
  • Barrel Bothy is not liable for:
    • Improper storage after delivery
    • Appliance misuse
    • Failure to maintain chimney systems
